Annual meeting of the Danish Society for Day Surgery, was held on 22nd January. We had an inspiring annual meeting with 70 participants.
The headline this year was “Day surgery requirements for education”. The day have offered a lot of exciting presentations
Among other things there were presentations from the president of the Danish trade union for nurses, the Nursing Council, Dorthe Boe Danbjørn. We subsequently had a very exciting panel discussion where anaesthesiologist Pernille Cedergren from the board and I participated. Pernille Cedergreen contributed her perspective on how we ensure day surgery competences among future doctor specialists Dr. Arnaldo Valedon, USA, from the International Association for Ambulatory Surgery, IAAS, participated virtually on video and told about IAAS view on training and education in day surgery and latest news from the IAAS. More nurses from different hospitals talked about implementation of competence cards for nurses and Bjarne Skjødt Hjaltalin talked about competence cards for anesthesiologists Associate professor Karin Bundgaard talked about what kind of nursing care is needed for to ensure the good patient course in day surgery.
In addition, we had a general meeting where we got two new members to the board of the Danish Society for Day Surgery.
